TikTok Live games to play with your viewers.

The best TikTok Live games are ones your viewers can play by typing in the chat: live quizzes, word games, picture rounds and game-show formats with a live leaderboard. They get a quiet chat talking, keep people watching for longer, and give viewers a reason to come back for your next live.

Why games work

Why do chat games work so well on TikTok Live?

A game turns watching into playing. Viewers who are answering questions type in the chat, stay to see if they were right, and come back to beat their score.

  • The chat gets busy. A question gives everyone something to say, even people who would never normally comment.
  • Viewers stay longer. Nobody leaves halfway through a round they could win.
  • Regulars come back. A leaderboard that carries on from one live to the next gives people a reason to return.
  • Gifts follow the fun. A live that's exciting to watch is a live people want to support.

Hosts using QuizGames Live have seen this first-hand. One host went from around 6 to 10 viewers to between 25 and 40 on their quiz lives, with the gifts from a single quiz live covering their whole month's subscription.

12 games

What games can you play with TikTok Live viewers?

These 12 games all work by typing in the chat, so viewers don't need an app, a link or a second screen.

1. Live quiz (multiple choice)

Ask a question with four answers and the chat types A, B, C or D. Points go to everyone who's right, and the leaderboard updates on screen after each question. It's the easiest game to start with. On QuizGames Live: the core quiz, included in every plan.

2. Word scramble

Show a scrambled word or phrase and the chat races to unscramble it. Easy, medium or hard scrambles let you pitch it at your audience. On QuizGames Live: Word Scramble.

3. Hangman

The chat shouts letters to reveal a hidden word, and every wrong letter costs a life. It builds tension as the word fills in. On QuizGames Live: Guess the Word.

4. Wordle-style guessing

The chat suggests words and you play them out on a Wordle-style board, so everyone works together to crack the word. On QuizGames Live: Word Guess.

5. Word search

Hidden words sit in a grid and you and the chat find them together. It's a calmer game that's good for a chilled live. On QuizGames Live: Word Search.

6. Picture round

Show a picture and ask who, what or where: logos, landmarks, album covers, film stills. The bigger version opens a bonus board for a jackpot. On QuizGames Live: The Big Picture game show.

7. Survey says

Reveal the top answers from a survey, family-fortunes style, and see who scores most. It works brilliantly as chat against the host. On QuizGames Live: Survey Showdown.

8. Deal or no deal

The chat plays against “The Vault”, accepting or rejecting offers, banking cash and trying to walk away champion. On QuizGames Live: Beat the Boxes.

9. The chase

Contestants build a cash pot, then face a final chase for the jackpot while the chat plays along. On QuizGames Live: The Pursuit.

10. Higher or lower

Show a number, such as a price, a year or a score, and the chat guesses whether the next one is higher or lower. It's quick to run and easy for newcomers to join.

11. Guess the song

Give a lyric or describe a song and the chat names the song or the artist. Music rounds are a favourite on lives with a regular crowd.

12. Team battles

Split the chat into two teams and keep a running score, so every answer counts for the team as well as the player.

Games 1 to 9 are built into QuizGames Live: the quiz is in every plan, and the word games and game shows are add-ons (see pricing). Games 10 to 12 are formats you can build as quizzes.

Step by step

How do you run a game on TikTok Live?

With QuizGames Live, it takes four steps:

  1. Build your questions in the web app, by typing them in or letting the AI Quiz Builder draft a set from a topic.
  2. Pick the game: a straight quiz, or one of the word games or game shows.
  3. Connect to TikTok Live, so answers typed in your chat reach the game. The setup page shows the options for PC, Mac, tablet and phone.
  4. Go live and play. Scores, the leaderboard and the podium update on your stream automatically.

Keep them playing

How do you keep viewers playing for the whole live?

  • Start with something easy. A couple of simple questions get the chat typing straight away, and new arrivals can join in without catching up.
  • Keep rounds short. Five to ten questions per round, then a leaderboard moment, keeps the pace high.
  • Mix your games. Follow a quiz round with a word scramble or a picture round, so the live never feels the same for long.
  • Shout out the leaders. Read out names as the leaderboard changes. Being named on stream is a big part of the fun.
  • Save something for the end. A final round or a game show finale with a podium gives people a reason to stay to the last minute.
  • Play at the same time every week. A regular slot with a running leaderboard turns one-off viewers into regulars.

From our own lives. On the @quizgameslive lives, Stuart mixes up the rounds, and the Monday night quiz always ends with a brain teaser called “The One Question”. The chat loves the quizzes, and the moment everyone waits for is the leaderboard: viewers want to see where they've finished and who's on top before the live ends.
